The Progress With My Jelly Roll Quilt
The quilt top is finally finished, and the quilt back flannel fabric is ready. I decided on flannel so that the quilt would be softer and warmer. It has taken a while, but the Jelly Roll Quilt is ready to be quilted. I'm glad Bev suggested that I put the second wider and darker border on the quilt as it makes it look so much better. I haven't yet chosen a fabric or color for the binding.
That is as soon as we get some quilt batting, because Bev ran out of it, and is waiting for a sale somewhere. She somehow forgot about and missed the 50% sale on batting at a local shop two weeks ago. We might have to make a run down to Montana to get some.
The finished size of the quilt top is 82 inches by 66 inches. A good size for using while watching television, or while sitting by a fire on a cool summer evening. I think the quilt may be a keeper.
I haven't yet decided how to quilt it yet either. I'm leaning towards having someone machine quilt it for me. There are two excellent long arm quilters nearby. I thought about trying to quilt it myself on Bev's sewing machine, but it may be a little to big for that. Especially for a first attempt.
I haven't finished this project yet, and I've already bought the fabric for my third quilting project, and I'm excited about it. I'm still looking for a quilt pattern to make with it, and when I do, I'll introduce it in a future blog post!
