The Nine Patch Sampler acrylic template set is so versatile and can be used to create so many different quilt pattern designs. I have blogged about this wonderful quilt pattern template set several times in the past few months.

Pictured above is a beautiful antique quilt called the Nine Patch Chain. The three pictures of this quilt are courtesy of the Eco American Quilt Museum.

 This wonderful antique quilt was made in the State of Ohio between 1880 and 1885. The pattern is a Nine Patch Variation Chain. Each small and large block in the diagonal chains is made up of nine equal squares, making the quilt pattern a "Nine Patch" quilt pattern. Unlike most modern Nine Patch quilts, a single beautiful blue color was used on a white background. This adds to the dramatic appearance of the Nine Patch Chain.

To get the exact block pattern that was used in the Nine Patch Chain quilt, one would use the block variation pattern in the fourth square from the left in the top row of the computer graphic. If you don't want to use the exact same  nine Patch variation, then choose any other variation and use it.

To make the blocks for your quilt, simply gather your chosen fabrics, and using the acrylic template (there are 11 individual templates in the Nine Patch Sampler Template Set), and a rotary cutter cut out the required squares (all exactly the same and with a built in 1/4 inch seam). Then sew them together to form the blocks of your choosing. Remember you can cut out mutiple squares at one time by having multiple layers of fabric on the cutting board.
